The Coverage Gap is the amount you pay for Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, with a Prescription Drug Plans (PDP) or a Medicare-Advantage Prescription Drug Plan (MA-PD), after the initial coverage limit and until the total you pay out of your pocket for covered prescription drugs reaches a certain amount (for 2009 the amount is $4350). You will likely pay 100 percent of the total drug cost during the coverage gap.
